Scaling-up the fight against HIV/AIDS

Uganda is often held up as a model for Africa in the fight against HIV and AIDS and FIRD’s interventions seek to build into the government’s vision and goals by strengthening the fight against HIV/AIDS through behavioral change programs among women, men, youths, Persons Living with HIV/AIDS.

Projects Implemented Under HIV

  • Implemented a project on family support funded by CHAI. The program involved supporting Orphans infected and affected by HIV/AIDS in Kwera Sub-County ( 2005, Closed )

  • Implemented a project on protection of vulnerable adolescents in Aloi sub-county, Lira District in partnership with Cooperazione Italiana Nord Sud (CINS) with funding from UNICEF. And trained over 200 formerly abducted children, child mothers, orphans and children affected and infected by HIV/AIDS. ( 2007, Closed )

  • A pilot project on HIV/AIDS control and prevention in Agwatta sub-county with Funding from Norwegian Agro-forest Group (NAG) in partnership with NORAD ( 2009- 2010, closed)
